Welcome to the Franconian Brewery Museum
For the love of the brewing tradition, a group of brew masters founded the Franconian Brewery Museum in 1979 in the town of Bamberg
- known to many as "The City of Beer".
The museum was established in the historical and renovated vaults of the former Benedictine brewing area on the Michaelsberg. Brewing activity here had first been mentioned in the year
1122. Historical equipment and developments from the area's breweries, malt factories and keg manufacturers are displayed on 900 square meters of museum space.
The entire malt production process and beer preparation stages, from the initial manufacture of malt to the final beer product, are clearly represented in the museums magnificent
vault areas. In the lecture room films give more detailed information about the brewing process. The museum's aims are to present the cultural-historical highlights
and the tradition of brewers, maltsters and coopers.
Besides the technical and cultural-historical significance of the museum, it has the additional goal of being an information centre concerning the universally popular beverage of
beer in that region of the world containing the most brewing sites. Have a good time and enjoy your visit to the museum.
